"Technology–It’s everywhere in the Logistics and goods movement industries." Most jobs at all levels in distribution centers heavily rely on the use of technology. Individuals who are competent working with computers and software have the edge when it comes to being hired and promoted.

The Logistics and Technology courses at East Lost Angeles College all have technology components integrated in their content. You’ll learn how both hardware and software are used in the industry. Some of the exciting technology topics covered include:

  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Global Information Systems (GIS)
  • Global Positioning Systems (GPS)

MSSC Certifications

The Technology and Logistics program is pleased to announce that the funding received from the US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration will allow ELAC to become the first community college in the region to offer the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) certification in Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) and Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) certificates as college credit courses.

The funding has further allowed ELAC to become a certified testing center for the MSSC.

We developmented two new Logistics courses to help students prepare for passing the nationally recognized MSSC certification. Logistics 104 is geared toward entry-level workers or people ready to start a career in the Logistics industry as well as prepare them for the CLA certification test. Logistics 105 includes Green Logistics concepts and will prepare students for the CLT certificate. The CLT is designed for employees already working in mid level jobs in Logistics.

For enrolled students into the grant, the grant will be paid for the certification textbooks and testing fees. Students will only have to pay the normal fees to attend ELAC.

Both certificate programs will be offered online.
